Cancer Treatment using Natural Killer Cells

Cancer, which is is still a leading cause of death in the world, is a condition where cells in a specific part of the body grow and reproduce uncontrollably. The cancerous cells can invade and destroy surrounding healthy tissue, including organs. It sometimes begins in one part of the body before spreading to other areas, a process is known as metastasis.
The causative factors could be toxic substances, radiation, genetic abnormalities etc. When the factors causing the cancer cells are overwhelmingly powerful against the immune system, the disease becomes full blown.
What are Natural Killer Cells?
Natural Killer (NK) cells are a component of the innate immune system which have the ability to recognize damaged, infected or transformed malignant cells. They express lytic machinery that is able to kill and target cells independently of any previous exposure to cancer antigens. Main functions of NK cells are to suppress tumour cell initiation, growth and metastasis through mechanisms mediated by perforin and the granzyme-containing granule mediated death receptor.
What Is AIET?
AIET stands for Autologous Immune Enhancement. The term "Autologous" signifies that the patient’s own immune cells i.e. Natural Killer (NK) cells are used. Not only the cells used, but the serum used to grow the cells are also taken from the patient’s own blood, meaning this approach doesn’t have any non self component. This ensures that it is the safest mode of treatment, meaning no adverse reactions such as rejection or allergy, and no need for immune suppressors. The term "Immune Enhancement" signifies the enhancement of the immune system by directly cultivating the isolated immune cells of the patient in the lab and transfusing to yield the best results.

4 Step Treatment Schedule
- Peripheral Blood and tissue sample is collected.
- The sample is sent to our Laboratory for processing.
- After processing for the specified number of days, the processed NK Cells and CTLs are sent to the hospital where the patient is admitted for transfusion.
- The processed cells is administered Intravenously, after which the patient needs to stay under observation in the hospital for a few hours.
This process shall be repeated every month for 6 Months.
